恶臭作为世界七大环境公害之一,从大气污染中单独分离出来,说明其具有自身的特点。恶臭气体污染与其他污染相比有下列特征:

恶臭废气污染的特点与毒害性

(1)污染范围广。恶臭物质排放到大气中,可在大气环流作用下迅速蔓延,造成大范围污染。

(2)测定困难。恶臭污染以生理和心理影响为主要特征,极低的浓度就可使人产生不快,这使其测定非常困难。目前还难以找到一个可全面评述恶臭的可检测性、强度、厌恶度及性质的简单的测定方法。因此,恶臭的有效测定方法是大气污染控制的一个重要研究内容。

(3)评价困难。恶臭污染源多为常见的、局部无组织排放源,污染又多为短时间、突发性的,因而难以捕捉,加之恶臭扩散方式复杂,故至今世界上还没有一种公认的恶臭评价方法,因此目前这方面的研究也相当活跃。

(4)治理困难。通常有害气体对人产生的生理影响与其浓度成正比,而恶臭给人的感觉量(恶臭强度)与对人的刺激量(恶臭物质浓度)的对数成正比。

迄今为止,有4000多种恶臭物质仅凭人的嗅觉即能感觉到。其中对人体健康危害较大的有氨、硫化氢、硫醇类、二甲基硫、三甲胺、苯乙烯、正丁酸(酪酸)和酚类等有机污染物。有些恶臭物质随废水、废渣进入水体后,不仅使水体散发出臭味,而且使鱼类等水生生物也携带恶臭而不能食用。有些恶臭物质还能与环境中的化合物结合形成严重的二次污染。恶臭物质分布广、影响大,它除了刺激人的嗅觉器官使人觉得不愉快外,还对人的呼吸系统、消化系统、内分泌系统、神经系统和精神产生不利影响,高浓度情况下会导致急性中毒甚至死亡。

随着工业和城市污水处理行业的进程,恶臭污染同益严重,而国内许多行业产生的恶臭气体几乎未经处理就直接排放到大气中。随着人们环保意识的不断提高,迫切需要对恶臭污染进行坚决的治理。
