恶臭是污染环境、危害人体健康的六大公害之 一。我国的国家标准《恶臭污染物排放标准》(GB 14554-1993)中将恶臭污染物定义为:一切刺激嗅觉器官引起人们不愉快及损坏生活环境的气体物质。由于污水处理厂内很多污水处理设施均为敞开式水池,污染源主要是预处理阶段的格栅井、沉砂池 和污泥处理阶段的污泥浓缩池等处散发的恶臭气体,属无组织面源排放。恶臭气体的主要成分为碳氢化合物、苯系物和硫化氢气体等,污水的臭味散发在大气中势必会影响到周围地区。
